ADVISORY: The new regulation requiring a FIN (Fisherman Information Network) number for all anglers, 16 years and older, went into effect Jan. 1, 2009. The Division of Fish & Wildlife has established a web site, www.delaware-fin.com, for obtaining a FIN number, and anglers may also call, toll-free, 1-800-432-9228, any time of day, seven days a week. (Anglers needing live operator assistance may call 866-447-4626 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST.) The FIN number will be required of both licensed and license exempt anglers, including anglers who fish on a boat that has a boat fishing license and who are not required to have a separate fishing license. Requiring a FIN number for anglers allows Delaware to comply with a new federal requirement for states to provide the Department of Commerce with an angler registry and thus avoid a federal license fee for Delaware.
